Winpot’s Sportsbook Growth Story: How a Localised Trading Strategy Helped Scale Revenue in Mexico

Winpot was founded in 2022, with its commercial launch taking place in September of the same year, and operates exclusively in Mexico. Its main brand, Winpot, is a casino-first online casino and sportsbook built on a proprietary platform.

The company has grown to more than 4.5 million registered users and positions itself as a locally-focused, technology-driven operator in the Mexican market.

While casino was the foundation of the business, sportsbook quickly became a strategic growth area. To accelerate that expansion, Winpot partnered with Altenar in 2023.

Before the partnership, Winpot worked with another B2B sportsbook provider. The main challenges were trading quality, pricing and margins, along with limited sports and market coverage. These constraints made it harder to compete effectively and increase the contribution of sportsbook to overall revenue.

Winpot needed a partner that could improve trading performance, expand market depth and deliver a more localised player experience.

Altenar provided a solution focused on flexibility, localisation and operational control:

  • Advanced widget-based front end
  • Reward campaigns, boosted odds and Tipster Manager
  • Localised sports content for the Mexican market
  • Custom trading and risk limits
  • Front-end adjustments and branded widgets
  • Improved margins and streaming integration
  • 24/7 trading and risk support

The goal was not simply to replace a sportsbook feed, but to build a product tailored to Winpot’s brand and audience.

The results were visible quickly, but the strongest impact appeared over time

2025 vs 2023 showed:

  • Turnover: +672%
  • GGR: +818%

H1 2026 vs H1 2025

  • Turnover: +186%
  • Number of bets: +206%

Player engagement deepened, with Bet Builder usage rising by 50% compared with the first half of 2025. The number of unique sportsbook users also increased by 251%

This was not growth driven by a single event or promotion. Winpot expanded its audience, increased betting activity and improved profitability at the same time.

What Drove the Growth?

Five sports account for 92.6% of total turnover, showing a highly concentrated and efficient betting profile. The strongest growth came from recurring championships rather than one-off events. The key drivers were MLB, NBA and NFL.

American leagues became a core part of the sportsbook business, generating 25% of total revenue in 2025. This highlights an important characteristic of the Mexican market: local operators can achieve significant growth by combining strong localisation with deep coverage of US sports.

In a rapidly-evolving Mexican market, this case demonstrates how a localised sportsbook strategy, supported by stronger trading and product flexibility, can become a powerful engine for long-term growth.
