Brazil requires online betting companies to register on consumer complaint platform
The National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) under the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, together with the Secretariat for Prizes and Betting (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance, has announced a new requirement for all online betting companies operating in Brazil: they must register on the public complaint platform Consumidor.gov.br.
The measure aims to increase transparency in the sector and ensure an efficient channel for conflict resolution between consumers and betting operators.
Wadih Damous, National Consumer Secretary, highlighted the importance of the new directive. “Making registration on Consumidor.gov.br mandatory is a key step to ensure that the rights of bettors are protected. Brazilians now have a direct and efficient platform to file and follow up on complaints, which strengthens fairness in consumer relations,” he stated.
Régis Dudena, Secretary for Prizes and Betting, emphasized the role of the measure in promoting transparency. “Requiring betting operators to participate on the Consumidor.gov.br platform shows the Ministry of Finance's commitment to ensuring that all operations are carried out in compliance with legal standards and with respect for betting consumers,” he said.
