Beatrice Chebet becomes first Kenyan woman to win 10,000m Olympic gold

Kenya's Beatrice Chebet etched her name into Olympic folklore by securing a historic double gold at the Paris 2024 Games. The 24-year-old sensation claimed victory in the women's 10,000m final, crossing the line in a blistering time of 30:43.25.

This victory marks her second gold medal of the Games, following her triumph in the 5,000m just four days earlier.

In a fiercely contested race, Chebet employed a tactical masterclass to outsmart her rivals. Italy's Nadia Battocletti produced a national record to claim silver (30:43.35), while defending champion Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands settled for bronze (30:44.12).

Chebet's performance not only secured her place in Olympic history as the first Kenyan woman to win gold in the 10,000m but also made her only the third woman ever to win both the 5,000m and 10,000m titles at the Olympics.
