Zimbabwe bans uniformed police from gambling establishments
Authorities have banned police from visiting betting shops and casinos while on duty
It all started with a viral video on social media of uniformed police placing bets. “Uniformed police should not enter betting shops or casinos to gamble. It puts the police in a bad light and is strongly condemned. Anyone caught doing so will be subject to disciplinary action,” Police Commissioner Paul Nyathi told the National Responsible Gambling Forum in Harare
Over the years, gambling operators have followed a similar practice of restricting access to uniformed police officers to avoid potential discomfort from customers.
