Zambia's youth ask the President to take measures to combat the growing problem of gambling addiction

A young man from Kalomo County, Eraston Gwangwazu, sent a letter to the President in which he shared the terrible consequences of gambling for young people in Zambia.

Erastonu Gwangvazu is a former gambler who knew about many problems related to gambling. "Some people have run into problems... Sometimes they commit suicide. I made my own bets, sometimes I won, sometimes I lost. I noticed that it took a lot of money from me, more than I took from him," he said.

According to him, many people found themselves in poverty, debt and depression due to gambling, especially Aviator. He also recognizes the contribution of betting shops and gambling to the economy of the state, but emphasizes that the problems of society from this sector are much bigger than financial support.

He also wrote, “Youths are now stealing, you send your child to buy mealie meal, they decide to use it on Aviator. I have also used someone’s money before. You also become addicted to it. Even marriages are breaking because of the Kandeke.”

Eraston is calling on the Government to counter the growing problem of gambling addiction by starting by blocking the Aviator game.
