Zambia to introduce 10% tax on betting
The Zambian government has introduced a number of new taxes, including a 10% excise duty on betting services.
These changes are linked to the formation of the country's additional budget of 33.6 billion Zambian kwacha for 2025, without resorting to external debt.
According to the Minister of Finance and National Planning, Dr. Situmbeko, Musokotwane, such a policy will help to legalize the betting sector and reduce financial losses from the unregulated gambling market
What is also interesting is that the cabinet recently approved a bill to modernize the outdated gambling and lottery regulations in Zambia. The introduction of the tax on betting confirms that the government is seriously committed to modernizing the country's gambling sector.
