Zambia Revenue Authority honors Betway brand as 2023's most compliant taxpayer

Emerald Bay Zambia Limited, operating under the Betway brand, has been awarded the title of "Most Compliant Taxpayer" in Lusaka Province for 2023. This recognition was announced during the 2024 Taxpayer's Day event held by the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) at Taj Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka on September 12, 2024.

Anthony Prissman, Betway's Group Director of New Markets, expressed gratitude for the award, stating, “We are honored to be recognized as the Most Compliant Taxpayer not only within our sector but across the entire Zambian industry." He emphasized the company's commitment to compliance and engagement with regulatory authorities to maintain high standards in all markets where they operate.

ZRA Commissioner General Dingani Banda noted a significant improvement in tax compliance rates for 2023, highlighting a 14% increase in registered taxpayers contributing to revenue collection, rising from 86,489 in 2022 to 98,572 in 2023. The active taxpayer population also grew by 10.1%, indicating a positive trend in compliance efforts over the past two years.

ZRA Board Chair Dr. Caleb Fundanga acknowledged the challenges of tax compliance but reaffirmed the authority's commitment to supporting taxpayers through fair and efficient policies. He stated that ZRA is continuously refining its processes to make tax compliance more accessible for all entities.
