Why Pre-ICE Networking Is Quietly Changing, And What One Padel Tournament Revealed

In recent months, industry conversations across African iGaming markets have focused less on expansion hype and more on sustainability, relationships, and long-term positioning. As global exhibitions grow larger and more complex, the pressure to “do more” before an event has reached a tipping point.

Ahead of ICE Barcelona 2026, Timeless Passion tested a different pre-exhibition dynamic.

Rather than adding another formal networking format to an already crowded calendar, the company organised its first Timeless Passion Padel Tournament in Barcelona. The idea was deliberately simple: create space before the exhibition, not noise.

A Shift Away From Structured Networking

The tournament brought together partners and peers for a full day centred on sport and shared experience. With 19 teams participating, the setting felt intentionally removed from the typical business environment, while still keeping industry interaction at its core.

Padel proved to be a strategic choice. Its social nature and accessibility allowed participants of varying experience levels to engage comfortably, while maintaining a competitive rhythm throughout the day. Matches were played with commitment, but the atmosphere remained relaxed, encouraging conversations to develop organically.

Participation Over Presentation

An important detail stood out. The organising team did not remain on the sidelines. Members of Timeless Passion actively took part on court, reinforcing a philosophy that experiences should be shared rather than staged.

Support from industry partners, including Amigo Gaming, BEON, and CMS Wager, contributed to the overall execution, while Endorphina supported additional prize placements. The focus, however, remained firmly on the experience rather than the scoreboard.

Why This Matters Now

For African operators and stakeholders navigating increasingly competitive and compliance-driven environments, the event offered a subtle signal. Relationship-building does not always require additional structure. In some cases, removing it entirely creates stronger outcomes.

The full article explores how this approach fits into a broader vision and why Timeless Passion is already extending the concept into future industry events.
