Veikkaus will introduce scratch cards Identification checks

Finnish monopoly gambling operator Veikkaus will introduce identity verification when selling scratch cards. The requirement will also apply to the receipt of winnings from scratch cards. Mandatory identification of buyers will be required from January 1, 2024.

Identity documents will include a driver's license, a personal Kela card and a Veikkaus card issued by the operator.

It should be noted that back in May 2023, Veikkaus introduced mandatory identification for buyers of tickets for the Eurojackpot and Lotto lotteries.

Let us remind you that Veikkaus’ monopoly on online gambling will be abolished in 2026. The country's authorities will introduce a new licensing system for operators of online casinos and online sports betting. At the same time, Veikkaus will retain exclusive rights to the lottery, but not to other verticals.
