US gambling revenue tops $16 billion in Q2 2023
Commercial revenue from land-based slots, table games and bookmakers, and online betting made in the US in the second quarter of 2023 was $16.07 billion. This follows from the August 16 report published by the American Gaming Association (AGA), which provides data for 34 states and the District of Columbia.
The revenue generated was 8.1 per cent higher than the same period last year. The second quarter of 2023 was the second-highest-earning quarter in the history of the industry, surpassed only by the first quarter of this year.
Casino slots, table games and retail sports betting revenue was $12.38 billion, up 0.9% from 2022. The online gambling segment generated $3.68 billion in revenue, up 43.1% year-over-year.
In the six months of 2023, the US gambling industry generated $32.71 billion in revenue, up 11.9% from a year earlier. Gambling tax revenue was $7.28 billion, an increase of 12.9% compared to the first half of 2022.
