Uganda launches online system to monitor gaming and betting sector
The Government of Uganda, in partnership with Comtrade D.O.O and MTA Computers Ltd, has developed a National Central Electronic Monitoring System (NCEMS) to regulate the gaming and betting industry.
The system, which is in line with the Lotteries and Gaming Act, 2016, will enhance compliance, increase revenue collection, strengthen enforcement, and promote responsible gaming.
The system has various modules that provide real-time data on financial and non-financial transactions, online and offline gaming activities, and player protection measures. The Online Reporting Module is already operational, with operators integrating onto the system.
The land-based module is under development and expected to be completed by June 2024.
The system is a strategic initiative that will revolutionize gaming oversight and create a more secure, transparent, and responsible gaming environment.
The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board, together with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, is leading the implementation of the system.
