Tottenham set to buy Rodrigo for less than 90m
According to the source, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy intends to use his partnership with the Real Madrid club to revise the terms of the deal and reduce the cost of the player's transfer. The club expects to acquire Rodrigo for a price lower than the stated €90 million.
Earlier, Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern and Chelsea showed interest in the player.
After the triumph in the Europa League, Tottenham intends not only to retain a strong core of the team, but also to strengthen the attacking line. One of the priorities of the London club has become Brazilian forward Rodrigo. According to sources, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy plans to use his long-standing ties with Real Madrid to negotiate a better price - below the current market valuation of €90 million.
There have been no direct negotiations between the clubs yet, with contact only taking place at the level of the player's representatives. Rodrigo, for his part, is in no rush to make a decision - he intends to first discuss his future with the new Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso.
The striker played 54 matches for Real Madrid in all competitions last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists. The player's contract runs until the summer of 2028, and his current value, according to Transfermarkt, is €90 million.
