The Gambia moves towards nationwide lottery launch with five-year Techlott agreement
The holder of The Gambia’s exclusive lottery and gaming licence has signed a definitive five-year agreement with Techlott Inc. to provide and operate the technology infrastructure for a nationwide lottery, with live operations expected to begin in the coming months.
The Gambia has taken another step towards launching a nationwide lottery after its exclusive lottery and gaming licence holder entered into a binding platform and services agreement with Techlott Inc. The contract was signed on August 6 and publicly announced on August 12.
The agreement has an initial term of five years from the start of live operations. Either party can terminate it with 90 days’ written notice, while the contract will automatically renew for successive 24-month periods unless notice is provided. The name of the Gambian licence holder has not been disclosed in the announcement.
Techlott will provide the technological backbone of the national lottery. Before launch, the company is responsible for adapting the platform to Gambian regulatory requirements, customising the system, implementing information-security measures, conducting acceptance testing and training the operator’s personnel. Once operations begin, Techlott will host the infrastructure and provide server management, security maintenance, monitoring, software updates and technical support throughout the contract.
The commercial arrangement is based on a tiered percentage of gross platform revenue, defined as the total value of bets and purchases processed through the system. Techlott will also receive minimum contractual payments of US$7,000 per month beginning August 15, 2026. The payment structure means its revenue will be linked to overall transaction volume rather than the operator’s net gaming results.
The definitive contract replaces an earlier commercial framework announced in January 2026, when the planned deployment was structured through Evyatech Ltd. Techlott now contracts directly with the holder of The Gambia’s exclusive licence, turning the earlier arrangement into a binding commercial agreement.
For Techlott, the Gambian project will represent its first national-scale deployment. The company, formerly known as AppYea, rebranded as Techlott in June 2026 as it shifted its focus towards technology for regulated lotteries, draw-based gaming and outcome-verification systems.
A precise launch date has not yet been announced, and live operations are currently expected only “in the coming months”. The next phase will therefore involve implementation, regulatory compliance work, testing and staff preparation before the platform can enter production.
The agreement gives The Gambia a concrete technology route towards establishing a nationwide lottery rather than merely a preliminary development plan. Its longer-term significance will depend on the final operating model, regulatory controls and the successful completion of testing, but the move represents an important step towards creating a centrally operated national lottery infrastructure.
