The Cabinet of Ministers of Sri Lanka has approved a bill to increase the tax on betting and gambling, as well as the cost of admission to the casino
The Cabinet of Ministers of Sri Lanka has approved a budget plan for 2025, which proposes to raise the tax on betting and gambling from 15% to 18%, and the entrance ticket to the casino for citizens of the country will be 100 USD instead of 50.
The increase in the tax on betting and gambling will be part of the amendments to the Law on Taxes on Betting and Gambling, which is the basic law of Sri Lanka and regulates the taxation of betting shops and gambling establishments.
The bill has not yet received approval from Parliament, however, according to local media, Nalinda Jayatissa, the Cabinet Secretary and Minister of Health and Mass Media, confirmed the intention to sign the law.
