Control over the activities of bookmakers in Uzbekistan has been entrusted to the National Agency for Prospective Projects. This follows from the decree of the country's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The document was recently published in the National Database of Legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to its content, the Agency is transferred functions and powers in the sphere of regulation of activities related to the organization of lotteries and bookmaking activities. Until now, the regulator of this activity was the Ministry of Finance.

The resolution also states that banks will be prohibited from making cross-border transfers in favor of organizations involved in illegal gambling activities. In addition, the Agency for Prospective Projects will create a register of information resources that violate the laws of the country.

Let us remind you that bookmakers have been prohibited in Uzbekistan since 2007. In December 2019, a presidential decree “On measures to raise football in Uzbekistan to a completely new stage” was published. According to its content, it was proposed to re-allow the work of bookmakers, and direct the funds received to the development of children's and youth football.
