Tanzania welcomes Ithuba as the new management partner of its National Lottery
The National Lottery of Tanzania has officially introduced Ithuba, a South African-based company, as its new management partner, according to local news outlet Daily News.
As part of this partnership, Ithuba has committed a substantial investment of 50 billion Tanzanian shillings into the National Lottery. This initiative aims to improve the lives of Tanzanians while bolstering investment opportunities across the country.
The announcement was made during a ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dar es Salaam. Deputy Minister for Finance, Hamad Hassan Chande, lauded the collaboration between the National Lottery and its new partner, Ithuba Tanzania. He emphasized the broader economic benefits and the potential for nurturing local talent through the lottery’s initiatives.
“This marks a significant opportunity for economic growth and community development, particularly in supporting young talent,” Chande said. “With the government’s substantial investments in the sports sector and the national football league now ranked sixth in Africa, I’m confident that we can rise to fourth place next year. This partnership comes at an opportune time.”
The National Lottery is projected to generate 2,000 jobs and distribute over 120 billion Tanzanian shillings in prizes through various draws and games planned for 2025.
Kelvin Koka, Director of Ithuba Tanzania, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, describing the National Lottery as a platform for leadership, opportunity, and shared prosperity. He outlined a vision of Tanzania and the East African region becoming a prominent player in the gambling industry.
“Ithuba has immense confidence in Tanzania’s gambling market potential, which is why we are making this significant investment. This initiative goes beyond gambling; it represents a transformative opportunity for winners and service providers alike,” Koka stated.
Koka also highlighted plans to extend the National Lottery’s reach beyond Dar es Salaam, ensuring that people from all regions of Tanzania can participate and benefit.
The Gaming Board of Tanzania will oversee the National Lottery’s operations to guarantee transparency and fairness, further enhancing public trust in the initiative.
