Tanzania Basketball League receives major boost with betPawa sponsorship
The Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) has officially signed a sponsorship agreement with betPawa on November 13, 2024. The agreement was signed by Michael Kadebe, TBF President, and Ntoudi Mouyelo, Managing Director of Mchezo Ltd, the company behind betPawa Tanzania. The signing ceremony took place at Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam and was attended by various stakeholders, including Boniface Tamba, Acting Director of the Department of Sports at the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports, who represented Deputy Minister Hon. Hamis Mwinjuma.
The sponsorship agreement will see betPawa inject TSh194.88 million into the National Basketball League. According to betPawa’s official Instagram account, players participating in the league will receive TSh140,000 directly to their mobile phones for each match they win, alongside four representatives from each team's technical bench.
Ntoudi Mouyelo emphasized that the decision to sponsor basketball stems from a desire to elevate the sport within the country. The presence of various leaders and stakeholders at the event underscores the collective commitment to advancing basketball in Tanzania.
