Supreme Decree in Peru adjusts tax rates for online gambling and betting
The Government of Peru has enacted a new decree modifying the General Sales Tax (IGV) and Selective Consumption Tax (ISC) related to online games and betting.
On January 19, 2025, Supreme Decree No. 008-2025-EF was published in "El Peruano," establishing that the ISC rate for online games and sports betting will be set at 0.3% until June 30, 2025. This adjustment aims to gradually implement tax measures on a growing sector.
Originally, the law stipulated a 1% tax starting January 1, 2025; however, this increase will now take effect from July 1, 2025. The decree is part of the government's effort to regulate and tax online gaming activities more effectively while providing a temporary relief period for operators in this sector.
The decree took effect on January 20.
