SportPesa rewards Tanzanian Champions Yanga with TZS 537.5 million
Young Africans (Yanga), the champions of the Tanzania Mainland Premier League, have been awarded a check for TZS 537.5 million by SportPesa in recognition of their exceptional performance in the 2023/24 season. Yanga's impressive run saw them lift the Premier League title for the third consecutive season.
The handing over ceremony took place in Dar es Salaam on May 5th, attended by SportPesa Tanzania's Board of Directors Chairman Tarimba Abbas, the firm's head of corporate communications Sabrina Msuya, Young Africans' Chief Executive Officer Andre Mtine, the club's president Hersi Said, the technical bench, some players, and guests from various companies, including mobile networks.
Abbas congratulated Young Africans' players for their remarkable achievements and praised the club's professional management. He emphasized SportPesa's pride in their sponsorship relationship with Yanga, stating that they have never regretted the partnership due to the club's exemplary conduct.
Abbas urged Yanga not to be complacent with their success and instead focus on improving their team, as he believes the upcoming 2024/25 season will be highly competitive.
Young Africans' president, Hersi Said, expressed his appreciation for SportPesa's unwavering support as the main sponsor, highlighting their collaborative efforts in implementing plans and fulfilling daily duties.
"We are happy to officially receive this bonus contractually for winning the Premier League, the Federation Cup, and reaching the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League," Said disclosed, underscoring Yanga's commitment to continued success.
