South Korean casinos scale up AI for table surveillance and risk audits as operators chase “real-time” integrity
GKL has completed technical verification of its VisionEye computer-vision system for live tables, while Kangwon Land is rolling out an AI-powered “Smart Audit System” to flag operational risks and automate audit reporting.
Grand Korea Leisure (GKL), the quasi-public operator behind the foreigner-only Seven Luck casinos, says it has successfully completed technical verification of VisionEye, an AI-based “game progress” monitoring system designed for live table games. VisionEye uses camera-based AI to recognise movements such as chip handling and card dealing, then automatically calculates and records betting details and game flow—an approach GKL expects will reduce calculation disputes, strengthen fairness and transparency, and ease dealers’ repetitive workload.
GKL has signalled it will publicly debut a prototype of VisionEye at G2E Asia in Macau in May 2026, then refine the system and explore overseas commercial opportunities, particularly in Southeast Asian casino markets.
On the domestic-casino side, Kangwon Land has moved in a different direction—toward internal control and audit automation. The company says its generative-AI “Smart Audit System” is built to shift audits from reactive checks toward proactive risk detection, with AI supporting data analysis, early risk signalling and the auto-creation of draft audit reports, freeing auditors to focus on higher-value investigative and strategic work.
The push reflects a broader compliance trend in Korea’s casino sector, where operators are under pressure to demonstrate stronger control frameworks. GKL, for example, recently topped the Korea FIU’s latest AML assessment among casino operators—an environment where automation and analytics are increasingly viewed as tools to improve both integrity and operational discipline.
