South Africa's Hollywoodbets Connect seeks expansion through network licenses
Hollywoodbets, a prominent South African betting company, has ventured into the telecommunications industry by launching an Internet Service Provider (ISP) called Hollywood Connect. The company has applied to the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) to acquire two network licenses that would allow it to operate as a national ISP.
The application made by Hollywood Connect has been published in the Government Gazette, notifying the public of the ISP's intention to acquire the network licenses. This step is part of the regulatory process to ensure transparency and provide an opportunity for public comment.
Hollywood Connect has applied for the transfer of ownership of Individual Electronic Communications Service (I-ECS) and Individual Electronic Communications Network Service (I-ECNS) licenses from East Coast Access. These licenses are crucial for the company's expansion plans, as they would enable Hollywood Connect to offer nationwide Internet services and roll out its own physical network infrastructure.
Hollywoodbets, also recognized as Hollywood Sportsbook, is a prominent sports betting company with its roots in South Africa. The company has expanded its operations to include Mozambique, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, offering a diverse range of betting options to its customers. These options include online betting through its website and mobisite, as well as traditional methods such as call centre and USSD betting.
Additionally, Hollywoodbets maintains a strong retail presence with physical branches in both South Africa and Mozambique, providing customers with a comprehensive and convenient betting experience.
