Rio de Janeiro to host the final of the CBCS Xeque Mate 2025 CS2 tournament at City of Arts this weekend

The Brazilian Counter-Strike Championship (CBCS) concludes its 2025 season with a high-stakes final stage at the Cidade das Artes (City of Arts) in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro — reinforcing the city’s growing role as a key eSports hub in Latin America.

The event, organised in partnership with the Federação de Esports do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (FERJEE), will see top Brazilian CS2 teams compete in the finals on 15-16 November 2025. The venue, City of Arts, provides a landmark setting in Barra da Tijuca and underlines Rio’s ambitions in the digital-sports economy.

According to organizers, the tournament includes the final bracket of the CBCS Xeque Mate as well as the women’s championship “Rainhas do Clutch 2025”, boasting the largest prize-pool ever for a women’s CS event in Latin America — R$ 150,000, with R$ 75,000 awarded to the winners.

The qualifying rounds concluded earlier in October and November, with teams advancing to the LAN finals in Rio. The semifinals will be held in best-of-three (Bo3) format and the grand final in best-of-five (Bo5).

For eSports operators, affiliates and betting affiliates, the event signals an increased commercialisation of CS2 in Brazil: the choice of Rio de Janeiro as host city, alongside elevated prize capital for women’s competition, demonstrates the maturing ecosystem and the growing value of live events in Latin America.
