Real Madrid set 70m price tag on Rodrygo as club sends ‘perform or be sold’ message
Real Madrid are now open to offers of around €70m for Rodrygo ahead of the 2026 transfer window, with Xabi Alonso still backing the Brazilian but making clear that his long-term future depends on what he delivers between now and the summer.
Real Madrid have begun planning for a possible high-profile outgoing transfer by setting a valuation of roughly €70m for Rodrygo, according to multiple reports in Spain. Sources cited by Madrid-based outlet Defensa Central and relayed by Madrid Universal indicate that the club are prepared to listen to bids at that level in 2026 if the forward’s situation does not improve.
Coach Xabi Alonso is understood to still believe in Rodrygo’s talent and versatility, but the internal message to the 24-year-old is clear: his future in Madrid will be decided on the pitch. The Brazilian has been told he has a defined window between now and the summer to prove he deserves to remain a core part of the club’s long-term project, with the board demanding greater consistency, productivity and reliability in decisive matches.
The stance comes amid Rodrygo’s prolonged goal drought and reduced role under Alonso, which have fuelled interest from several top European clubs, including Premier League sides and Paris Saint-Germain. While Real Madrid are not actively pushing him out, senior figures have accepted that a sale at around €70m could help finance an attacking rebuild if the player fails to reclaim his previous level.
For now, the situation remains in Rodrygo’s hands: a strong second half of the season could still close the door on a transfer — but if his form and impact do not rebound, Madrid appear ready to turn serious interest into negotiations.
