Premier League Matchweek 7: Manchester City Stay Perfect, Brighton Dominate and Tottenham End Winless Run
The seventh round of the 2026/27 Premier League season delivered 26 goals across ten matches, with Manchester City extending their winning streak, Brighton recording a spectacular derby victory and Tottenham finally securing their first league win.
The seventh round of the Premier League, played from October 17 to 19, brought dramatic results, impressive individual performances and important changes in the standings.
Manchester City maintained their perfect start to the season with a hard-fought 3–2 victory over newly promoted Ipswich Town. Erling Haaland scored twice as Enzo Maresca's team secured their seventh consecutive league win, taking their tally to 21 points.
Defending champions Arsenal kept pace with the leaders after Noni Madueke scored the decisive goal in a narrow 1–0 away victory over Nottingham Forest. The Gunners remain three points behind City, while Brighton strengthened their third-place position with the round's most emphatic result a stunning 5–0 demolition of Crystal Palace.
Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 2–1 comeback victory against Brentford, thanks to a late winner from Alexander Isak. Chelsea also impressed, defeating Everton 2–0 with Pedro Neto scoring both goals.
Manchester United's disappointing campaign continued with a 1–1 draw against Leeds United. Dominic Calvert-Lewin cancelled out Bryan Mbeumo's opener, leaving Michael Carrick's side with just seven points from seven matches.
The final fixture saw Tottenham defeat Coventry City 3–1, ending their six-match winless start. James Maddison celebrated his return to the starting lineup with a goal, while Omar Marmoush and Ben Davies completed the victory.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa edged Newcastle 1–0, Bournemouth defeated Sunderland 2–0 and Fulham secured their first league win with a 1–0 success against Hull City.
After seven rounds, Manchester City lead with 21 points, followed by Arsenal on 18 and Brighton on 16. While City continue to set the pace in the title race, Brighton's attacking form and the struggles of Manchester United and Tottenham remain among the season's biggest talking points.
