Premier Bet announces closure in Senegal
Online bookmaker Premier Bet has announced that it will cease operations in Senegal, effective July 31. The company informed its employees of the closure through a WhatsApp message.
This decision comes in response to recent adjustments in tax payments mandated by the Senegalese tax authorities, which have impacted the company's ability to continue its operations in the country.
Employees of Premier Bet Senegal have expressed concerns regarding their compensation, fearing that the operator may not fulfill its obligations in the event of layoffs.
Founded in March 2013, Premier Bet has grown to become one of Africa's largest betting companies, operating in over 20 countries across the continent. Some of these countries include Cameroon, Congo (Brazzaville), Côte d'Ivoire, Malawi and Uganda, among others.
