Portugal's online gambling revenue hits record in Q2 2023
Portugal's online gambling revenue for the second quarter of 2023 was €205.9 million. This was reported in a report published recently by the Gambling Regulatory and Inspection Service (SRIJ).
The revenue figure was the highest on record, surpassing the previous record of €196.4 million achieved in the first quarter of 2023. Compared to the second quarter of 2022, revenue growth was 41.8%.
€122.0 million of revenue generated for the period from 1 April to 30 June 2023 came from online casinos. 82.5% of this amount related to online slots.
€84.0 million in revenue came from online sports betting.
In the second quarter of 2023, Portugal had 30 active online gambling licenses, 17 of which were for online casinos and 13 for online sports betting.
During the second quarter of 2023, 190,200 new accounts were registered on licensed operator sites, bringing the total number of accounts to 3,816,700.
The number of players who have decided to self-exclude from gaming sites has reached 181,600.
