PMU-Mali celebrates 30 years of growth and innovation in the betting industry

The Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU-Mali) celebrated its 30th anniversary on September 2, 2024, with a ceremony led by General Director Fassery Doumbia.

During the event, Doumbia emphasized the importance of transparency and the need for a new system that will allow the company to determine its revenue and allocate shares to partners more effectively. He expressed his vision of introducing betting on Malian horse races and transforming the company's resellers into true entrepreneurs.

The staff, dressed in specially designed uniforms, celebrated the milestone with enthusiasm, starting with a cleanliness initiative at the company's headquarters. Doumbia highlighted that maintaining cleanliness is a behavioral issue and encouraged everyone to adopt it as a habit. He acknowledged the contributions of previous leaders and the company's significant growth, which saw profits exceeding 22 billion CFA francs in 2023.

Doumbia also announced plans for a new housing project, the PMU-Mali City, which is currently 74% complete. He aims to create a new city every two years across Mali, enhancing the company's role in social development. Additionally, he underscored the need for a robust auditing platform to combat money laundering and ensure all revenue remains in Mali, marking a significant shift in the company's operational approach.
