PGL Masters Bucharest 2026: FURIA Defeat Nemiga in Five-Map Final to Claim Second Consecutive CS2 Title

FURIA emerged victorious at the $1.25 million PGL Masters Bucharest 2026, overcoming surprise finalists Nemiga 3–2. The tournament featured major upsets, early exits for established teams and a breakthrough MVP performance from YEKINDAR.

PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 concluded on October 31 after eight days of Counter-Strike 2 competition featuring 16 teams from around the world. Held at PGL Studios in Romania, the tournament offered a $1.25 million prize pool and valuable ranking opportunities ahead of the Singapore Major.

The Swiss group stage immediately delivered surprises. G2 Esports suffered three consecutive defeats and exited without winning a series, while Team Spirit and The MongolZ also failed to reach the playoffs. BetBoom Team and FUT Esports advanced with perfect 3–0 records, although both were eliminated in the quarter-finals.

FURIA faced a challenging route after early defeats against NAVI and Spirit. The Brazilian-led roster recovered with victories over TYLOO and Liquid before eliminating BetBoom 2–0 in the quarter-finals and MOUZ 2–1 in the semi-finals.

Nemiga produced the tournament's biggest underdog story. After qualifying through the group stage with a 3–2 record, the team defeated FUT 2–0 and then stunned Vitality 2–0 to reach the grand final.

The championship match turned into a five-map battle. Nemiga dominated Ancient 13–2, but FURIA responded with commanding victories on Dust2 (13–5) and Cache (13–2). Nemiga forced a decider by winning Mirage 13–11, before FURIA secured the trophy with a 13–6 victory on Nuke.

MOUZ finished third after defeating Vitality 2–0 in the placement match.

FURIA earned $450,000 in combined player and club rewards, while Nemiga received $200,000 and MOUZ collected $137,500.

The tournament's standout performer was Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis, who received his first career HLTV MVP award. He recorded a 1.56 rating and 82 kills in the grand final.

FURIA's victory marked their second consecutive championship following the Thunderpick World Championship. With the Singapore Major approaching, Bucharest demonstrated both the team's improving form and the ability of emerging contenders such as Nemiga to challenge established CS2 favourites.
