PAGCOR will remain solely a gambling regulator in 2025
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) will remain solely a gambling regulator in 2025. This was announced by the head of PAGCOR, Alejandro Tengko, during his speech on September 13, 2023, at the opening of the IAG Academy Summit at the Hilton Manila hotel.
Tengko noted that the planned privatization of state-owned casinos currently managed by PAGCOR will be completed within two years.
Currently, the leadership of PAGCOR is holding meetings with employees to develop measures to mitigate the consequences of changes in their work conditions.
It should be recalled that PAGCOR also serves as a regulator for casinos and gambling. The company permits and licenses gambling activities, including blackjack, dice, poker, slot machines, and bingo. Currently, there are 12 licensed casinos in the Philippines regulated by PAGCOR, with over 2,300 gaming tables and approximately 20,000 slot machines.
PAGCOR also operates 13 of its own casinos, including Casino Filipino Midas, Casino Filipino Malate, and Casino Filipino Pavilion.
As previously stated by Tengko, the sale of casinos is expected to generate between 60 billion Philippine pesos (1.06 billion US dollars) and 80 billion Philippine pesos (1.41 billion US dollars).
