On 11 March, North Carolina will start accepting online sports betting. This was announced the other day by the US state's Lottery Commission. Reportedly, nine operators, including bet365, DraftKings, FanDuel and Bet MGM, have applied for five-year online licences.

Recall that online sports betting was legalised in North Carolina in June 2023 after the signing of the law by the governor of the state. According to the content of the document, online bookmakers will be required to pay one million dollars annually as a licence fee. Acceptance of online sports betting will be subject to an 18% tax.

Online sports betting will be allowed for residents of the state aged 21 and older.
