Online sports betting is now live in Maine
Maine has become another American state where legal online sports betting has begun. On November 3, 2023, operators Draft Kings and Caesars started accepting sports bets.
Recall that the sports betting legalization law was signed by Governor Janet Mills in May 2022.
According to the document, up to ten betting licenses will be issued. 10% of the adjusted gross revenue from the bets will go to the state budget.
Retail betting can be launched by two existing casinos in the state (Hollywood Casino Hotel and Raceway and Oxford Casino) in partnership with bookmaking companies.
A four-year license for online gambling costs $200,000. The license cost for operating a retail betting point is $4,000.
