Online gambling set new record in Portugal in Q3 2023
Portugal's online gambling revenue for the third quarter of 2023 totalled 215.3 million euros. This is according to a report published recently by the Gambling Regulation and Inspection Service (SRIJ).
The revenue figure was the highest ever recorded, surpassing by 4.6 per cent the previous record of €205.9 million set in the second quarter of 2023. Compared to the third quarter of 2022, revenue growth was 36.1 per cent.
€133.4 million of the revenue generated between 1 July and 30 September 2023 came from online casinos.
Spending by Portuguese residents on online gambling reached a record €3.65bn in the third quarter. 82.3 per cent of this amount related to online slots.
Revenue from land-based gambling reached €76.1 million, showing a growth of 14.0%.
