Ontario online gambling revenue up 105% in Q2 2024

Gross gaming revenue from licensed online gambling operators in the Canadian province of Ontario reached CAD 540 million (USD 397 million) for the period from July to September 2023. This is stated in the report of the gambling regulator iGaming Ontario (iGO) for the second quarter of the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
According to the contents of the document, published on October 11, compared to the same period last year, revenue increased by 105%. At the same time, when compared to the previous quarter, revenue decreased by CAD 5 million.
Ontario's online gambling market reached CAD14.2 billion (US$10.44 billion), an increase of 132% from the second quarter of the 2022-23 fiscal year.
Between July and September 2023, there were 47 licensed operators in Ontario offering their service at 71 sites.
The total number of accounts on licensed online casino and online bookmaker sites was 943,000. The average amount spent per account reached CAD 191 ($140).
Recall that the legal and regulated online gambling market in Ontario opened on April 4, 2022. The province became the first in Canada, where they began to legally accept online betting. The licensees included operators BetMGM, Coolbet, FanDuel, Fitzdares, bet365, LeoVegas, Unibet and 888.
