Chile's Chamber of Deputies passed online gambling regulation bill

On 12 December, the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Chile approved and sent to the Senate a bill aimed at regulating online gambling.
Recall that at the moment online gambling is prohibited in Chile.
The bill proposes to establish for online operators a tax of 20% on gross gambling revenue. Online bookmakers are also proposed to be obliged to pay 2% of their annual gross revenue to national federations, on which sports are bet. Operators will also be required to spend at least 1% of their annual gross revenue on activities aimed at promoting responsible gaming.
The annual licence fee for operators with a general licence relating to all types of gambling is proposed to be set at 1,000 UTM (Chilean conventional units of account), and 100 UTM for companies with a provisional licence.
The document introduces sanctions against illegal gambling operators. Violators of the legislation may be subject to fines ranging from 11 to 200 monthly tax units (UTM).
