Nottingham Forest Appoint Sean Dyche as New Head Coach Following Postecoglou’s Exit

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new head coach, following the sudden resignation of Ange Postecoglou earlier this week — a move that signals a major shift in direction for the Premier League club.

Dyche, who previously managed Burnley and Everton, returns to the Premier League less than a year after leaving Goodison Park. Known for his disciplined defensive structure and physical style, the 54-year-old is expected to stabilise Forest’s form after a turbulent start to the 2025/26 season.

Ange Postecoglou, who joined the club just 11 months ago, stepped down citing “personal reasons” after a run of inconsistent performances left Forest hovering near the relegation zone. Despite his attacking philosophy, the team struggled to convert possession into goals — winning only two of their last eight matches.

Forest chairman Nicholas Randall KC said in a statement that Dyche’s “experience, leadership and knowledge of English football” made him the right choice to guide the team forward. Dyche has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and is expected to take charge for Saturday’s clash against Crystal Palace at the City Ground.

Dyche’s immediate challenge will be to revive a squad low on confidence and facing a congested fixture schedule. With his pragmatic approach and emphasis on work ethic, fans hope he can replicate the resilience that once made his Burnley side one of the league’s toughest to break down.
