NLRC and ARCON collaborate to establish advertising standards in Nigeria's gaming industry
The National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) and the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) have agreed to collaborate in setting advertising best practices for Nigeria's gaming industry. Lanre Gbaja, Director-General of the NLRC, emphasized the importance of inter-agency synergy while welcoming ARCON's DG, Lekan Fadol.
In another development, Gbaja hosted the House of Representatives Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs, seeking their support in acquiring office accommodations, securing presidential assent for the Gaming Industry Bill, and obtaining adequate budgetary allocations.
This announcement was made on the official page of the Nigeria Lottery Commission on X on July 16th.
As a reminder, gambling regulations in Nigeria are governed by the National Lottery Act of 2005, which established the National Lottery and its regulatory body, the NLRC. The country permits land-based casinos, bookmakers, and various lotteries, and licenses for online gambling are also issued.
