The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) convened licensed gaming operators at Mestil Hotel for a stakeholder engagement focused on enhancing compliance across the industry. The event brought together key players in Uganda’s gaming sector to reinforce the importance of regulatory adherence and collaboration.

In his opening remarks, NLGRB CEO Denis Mudene expressed appreciation to gaming operators for their growing efforts toward regulatory compliance. He commended their vital role in supporting Uganda’s national development, particularly through increased revenue collection.

The central theme of the day’s engagement was clear: compliance is not a burden, but the foundation of a credible and sustainable industry. NLGRB Board Chair Aloysious Mugasa Adyeri emphasized this point, stating, "When operators fully comply with the law, the sector benefits: public confidence is enhanced, government revenue increases, and vulnerable populations — especially the youth — are better protected."

Senior Manager for Regulatory Compliance, Richard Muteesaasira Kavuma, reinforced the message by noting that "Compliance with regulatory requirements will improve the operator’s performance and keep the regulator’s whip away."

During the engagement, the NLGRB also announced a relocation of its offices from Communications House to Luthuli House on Luthuli Avenue in Bugolobi by the end of June, as it continues progress toward establishing a permanent headquarters.

The NLGRB serves as Uganda’s primary authority overseeing the regulation and licensing of lotteries, casinos, betting, and all gaming activities. It ensures that operators comply with national laws and prioritizes public interest, revenue generation, and the protection of vulnerable groups.
