Nigeria launches project Phoenix to transform lottery and gambling revenue collection
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched Project Phoenix, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving revenue generation and collection within the lottery and gaming sector. Announced during the inaugural meeting of the Joint Committee for the implementation of the Revenue Assurance Platform (RAP), the project seeks to create a transparent and efficient revenue collection system that maximizes government earnings while protecting citizens from fraud. The meeting, presided over by Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, took place in Abuja.
Project Phoenix will also focus on strengthening regulations, ensuring compliance among operators, recovering outstanding revenues, and implementing advanced monitoring systems to safeguard consumers. Key deliverables include the successful rollout of RAP, recovery of overdue revenues, and policy recommendations to enhance the sector further.
With Project Phoenix, Nigeria is poised to harness the potential of its lottery and gaming industry for socio-economic development while reinforcing its commitment to transparency and accountability.
