Neymar Jr banks R$350,000 with 4th-place finish in BSOP ONE Neymar Jr Edition Super High Roller

Brazil’s football icon opened the BSOP ONE Neymar Jr Edition in style, reaching the final table of the R$100,000 Super High Roller in São Paulo and securing a R$350,000 payout, while Will Arruda claimed the title and nearly R$900,000.

The Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) ONE Neymar Jr Edition got underway this Thursday (18) at Hotel Unique in São Paulo, bringing together some of the country’s top live poker names for an ultra-high-stakes R$100,000 Super High Roller. The invitational event attracted 32 entries and built a total prize pool of around R$3m, with R$1m earmarked for the eventual champion.

Neymar Jr, whose long-standing passion for poker has already seen him compete regularly on Brazil’s live circuit, made a deep run in the tournament that carries his own name. The Al-Hilal and Brazil forward navigated his way to the final table and ultimately finished in fourth place, a result that earned him R$350,000 and confirmed his status as one of the most competitive celebrity players on the local scene.

The title went to Brazilian pro Will Arruda, who outlasted the 32-player field and sealed victory after a heads-up deal with Peruvian player Gerardo Rodriguez. Arruda’s final payout reached R$878,000, while Rodriguez took R$700,000, leaving the remaining prize pool to be divided among other final-table finishers including Neymar.

Speaking before the event, Neymar reiterated that poker, for him, is a “mind sport” built on skill, concentration and emotional control rather than pure luck – qualities he says translate directly from elite football to the felt. His performance at the BSOP ONE Neymar Jr Edition’s opening high-roller shows that, at least for now, the crossover is paying off both in competitiveness and in prize money.
