As part of efforts to expand Botswana’s gaming industry and promote responsible betting under the #MotshamekoOPhepa initiative, the Gambling Authority of Botswana officially inaugurated BBets at the Gaborone Hotel on March 14. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by the Authority’s CEO, Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe, highlighting the regulator’s role in job creation and maintaining a structured gaming industry.

BBets has officially entered Botswana’s regulated betting sector, which is governed by the Betting, Lotteries, and Gaming Act of 2012. The Gambling Authority, the national regulator overseeing all gambling activities in the country, is responsible for licensing operators and ensuring compliance with responsible gaming principles. To date, the Authority has issued a total of 43 gambling licenses, covering various sectors, including casinos, sports betting, and lotteries.

The launch event highlighted BBets' dedication to promoting responsible gaming practices and contributing to Botswana’s economic diversification efforts. By adhering to the country’s strict regulatory framework, BBets aims to provide a secure and controlled environment for bettors while reinforcing the Gambling Authority’s mandate of ensuring fair and ethical gaming practices.

With its launch, BBets increases betting choices for local players, aligning with the country’s regulated gaming framework. The company’s focus on responsible gaming aligns with global best practices, establishing its presence in Botswana’s structured betting market. As Botswana continues to refine its gambling sector under the oversight of the Gambling Authority, BBets is set to play a pivotal role in fostering a sustainable and accountable gaming culture.
