National Gaming Board and Uganda Police collaborate for safer gambling practices
On December 12, the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) hosted a stakeholders' engagement meeting with the Uganda Police Force (UPF) at the Kabira Country Club in Kampala. The meeting aimed to promote responsible gaming and raise awareness about the Board's role in safeguarding citizens from the adverse impacts of gaming activities.
The session brought together key police officers from the Kampala Metropolitan Policing area, including KMP Commander CP Ecega Richard, ACP PRO Uganda Police Force, Division Police Commanders (DPCs), and Division CID Officers. Discussions centered on enhancing collaboration between the NLGRB and law enforcement to crack down on illegal gaming operations and enforce regulatory compliance.
This collaboration highlights the growing importance of partnerships in addressing the social and economic challenges associated with gaming. Both the NLGRB and UPF reiterated their commitment to strengthening enforcement measures and ensuring the gaming industry operates within legal boundaries.
The Uganda Gambling Regulatory Authority (UGRA) plays a vital role in overseeing the country's gaming sector by licensing operators and ensuring adherence to national laws. It also works to protect vulnerable populations by promoting responsible gambling practices.
