Namibia’s Gambling Board orders licence holders to clear levy and fee arrears by 30 April
In Public Notice No. 001 of 2026, the Gambling Board of Namibia warns that unpaid levies and fees could trigger disciplinary action — including penalties and possible licence suspension or withdrawal.
The Gambling Board of Namibia (GBN) has issued Public Notice No. 001 of 2026, calling on all casino, gambling house, bar and shebeen gambling licence holders to immediately regularise outstanding gambling levies and fees. The notice cites the Board’s powers under sections 61 and 62 of the Gaming and Entertainment Control Act, 2018, alongside relevant provisions in the regulations governing fees and levies.
GBN instructs operators to pay all arrears calculated from either the date of licence issuance or from the date the last payments were made. Crucially, the Board sets a compliance window running from the publication of the notice up to 30 April 2026, warning that continued non-payment after that date may result in disciplinary measures, penalties, and even suspension or withdrawal of licences.
The public notice also requires licence holders to complete and submit a levy remittance form, declaring monthly net income and supporting the submission with relevant documentation, with GBN stating that submitted information will be audited for accuracy and completeness. Operators can obtain the form from GBN’s office in Windhoek or request it by email.
The move is a clear signal that Namibia’s regulator is shifting from reminders to enforcement on operator funding obligations — and that arrears on statutory levies are increasingly being treated as a licensing risk, not a paperwork issue.
