Namibia and Botswana to collaborate to improve gambling regulation
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during a bilateral meeting on 23-24 July 2025, which sets new standards for cooperation in gambling regulation in Africa. The Botswana Gaming Authority was represented by Board Member Gaoakanye Tapeng, CEO Peter Emolemo Kesitilwe and his team. Namibia was represented by Lotteries Board Chairman Dr. Wilkiff Shililifa and CEO Dr. John Shimaneni.
The MoU will see the parties collaborate to strengthen the regulatory framework for the industry. Future plans include knowledge sharing, joint research, player protection, and joint training programs to enhance the skills of regulators.
This alliance will undoubtedly strengthen the positions of Botswana and Namibia as leaders in gambling regulation.
