Pari-mutuel betting vendors in Gabon establish official syndicate
The Syndicate of Vendors of Pari Mutuel Urbain Gabonais (SYNAV-PMUG) has been officially established to safeguard the rights and job security of PMUG agents. During the ceremony, Secretary General Sylvia Audrey Bouanga Mapicka clarified that the union aims to promote professional growth and foster constructive dialogue with employers.
SYNAV-PMUG seeks to ensure job stability and a balanced work environment, encouraging members to actively engage in collective efforts. Bouanga Mapicka emphasized the importance of collaboration with experienced organizations like the Gabonese Trade Union Confederation (COSYGA) to address future challenges effectively.
The event also honored the decades-long contributions of vendors who have been vital to PMUG's operations. COSYGA, established in 1976, reaffirmed its commitment to protecting workers’ rights.
The ceremony included speeches from COSYGA and SYNAV-PMUG representatives and the formal installation of the syndicate’s executive board, including its Secretary General. This initiative aims to strengthen the rights of PMUG vendors while maintaining a constructive relationship with employers.
The Pari Mutuel Urbain Gabonais (PMUG) was established in 1993 to manage and regulate horse racing bets in Gabon, providing a structured framework for mutual betting and ensuring compliance with local gambling laws.
