Morocco's SOREC prepares for 3rd edition of the Grand Prix d'Afrique
Marrakech will host the 3rd edition of the Grand Prix d'Afrique from October 31 to November 2, organized by SOREC in collaboration with the Association of Lotteries of Africa (ALA). This year’s event features a new three-day format, including a seminar for industry experts to discuss gaming regulation challenges in Africa, focusing on security, legal frameworks, and tax implications. The final day will be dedicated to horse racing, allowing both professionals and the public to enjoy various competitions.
The choice of Marrakech highlights Morocco's strategic role in promoting African horse racing, with SOREC as a key player. The previous edition in 2023 attracted participants from 12 African countries and over 3,000 spectators. The Grand Prix aims to showcase top-tier horses and jockeys while celebrating the region's cultural richness.
Omar Skalli, Director General of SOREC, noted that this edition marks a "turning point" for deeper exchanges among African delegations. Dramane Coulibaly, President of the ALA, praised Morocco for uniting stakeholders around this significant event. The Grand Prix continues to solidify its reputation as a premier gathering in African equestrian sports.
