Mikel Arteta Agrees New Arsenal Contract With Significant Pay Rise

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has agreed a new long-term contract with the Premier League champions, with the improved deal expected to keep him at the Emirates until at least 2030 and significantly increase his salary.

Arteta's existing deal, signed in September 2024, is due to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season. Talks over an extension began in May before being temporarily paused during the summer transfer window. The exact length has not been disclosed, but the 44-year-old is expected to commit for at least another three years, potentially keeping him in charge until 2030 and taking his tenure at Arsenal beyond a decade. Arteta was appointed in December 2019.

The agreement also includes a significant salary increase. His current package is believed to be worth around £10 million per year, plus a bonus of approximately £5 million for Champions League qualification. The improved contract rewards a landmark 2025/26 campaign. Arteta led Arsenal to their first Premier League title since 2004, ending a 22-year wait, and also guided the team to the Champions League final, where they lost to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.

Arsenal are also working to secure other key figures for the long term, with a new deal for Declan Rice among the club's priorities. The midfielder has entered the final two years of his current agreement, although Arsenal hold an option for an additional season.
