Meta must remove all advertisements for illegal gambling platforms in Brazil within 48 hours
The Brazilian Attorney General's Office (AGU) sent Meta a letter demanding that it remove all advertisements for illegal gambling platforms. The notice stated that the company must remove such prohibited content within 48 hours and not promote it again.
Hundreds of advertisements were identified that did not comply with legal requirements. According to the AGU, these advertisements may be involved in tax evasion, money laundering, and also violate consumer rights.
This is not the first such case; a scandal recently broke out in India over possible money laundering through advertising of illegal iGaming applications. At that time, Meta representatives did not show up for questioning and did not comment on the situation.
