Manchester United Attracting Interest from UAE Investors Amid Takeover Rumours
Reports have emerged that a consortium based in the United Arab Emirates is exploring a potential takeover of Manchester United, sparking renewed speculation over the club’s future ownership.
Saudi sports figure Turki Al-Sheikh recently fueled rumors by posting on X that Manchester United is in the “advanced stage” of being sold, though he clarified he is not the buyer and denied national origin claims.
According to talkSPORT and other media, the purported UAE group has approached former club legends to act as ambassadors for the bid. Sources say the Glazer family — the current majority owners — have not confirmed any formal negotiations.
The club is currently valued at over £5 billion, according to several reports. Meanwhile, co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who holds a 27.7% stake, retains a “drag-on clause” requiring him to either match or respond to any full takeover offers.
Club insiders say they are surprised by the intensity of current speculation, and have denied that the Glazers are in advanced sale talks.
