Manchester City ready 65m move for Newcastle full-back Tino Livramento
Manchester City are preparing a bid worth around €65m for Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento, with Pep Guardiola viewing the 23-year-old as a long-term successor to Kyle Walker amid growing competition from Chelsea and Manchester United.
Manchester City have stepped up their interest in Newcastle United right-back Tino (Valentino) Livramento and are readying an offer in the region of €65m (about £65m including add-ons), according to multiple reports in England. TEAMtalk, via outlets such as The Hard Tackle, CaughtOffside and FootballFanCast, reports that City have made the 23-year-old one of their top defensive priorities for the summer window.
Pep Guardiola is said to be a huge admirer of Livramento’s profile, seeing him as a “complete modern defender” who can operate as an attacking right-back and an inverted full-back in City’s positional play — a role previously occupied by Kyle Walker before his departure. Several reports suggest City could structure the deal as a cash-plus-player package, potentially including goalkeeper James Trafford, a long-term Newcastle target, to reach a total value of around £65m.
Newcastle, however, are under no pressure to sell and reportedly value Livramento above the mooted figure. Local and national reports indicate that the Magpies are preparing a new long-term contract offer to ward off interest from City and other suitors, including Chelsea and Manchester United. Livramento is believed to be calm about his future and focused on Newcastle’s season, but has not ruled out a move to an elite club if an agreement is reached between the two sides.
For City, securing a high-level, homegrown full-back is seen as a key piece of their next defensive cycle, especially with increasing tactical emphasis on flexible wide defenders. For Newcastle, any decision over Livramento will balance on-pitch importance against potential Profit and Sustainability (PSR) considerations, with a major sale offering breathing space but weakening a key position in Eddie Howe’s squad.
