Malawi Gaming Board offers 6 new licenses to boost local gaming industry
The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) plans to issue six additional gaming licenses by the end of 2024, according to CEO Rachel Mijiga, as reported by Times 360 Malawi.
This initiative aims to regulate and expand the gaming sector, which has experienced significant growth in recent years.
Currently, Malawi has 12 licensed gaming operators, and the introduction of new companies is expected to create jobs and stimulate economic growth. The new licenses will encompass various gaming activities, including sports betting, casino operations, and online gaming. MAGLA encourages both local and international operators to apply, aiming to enhance the industry’s development.
This announcement aligns with the government's objective to increase revenue from the gaming sector while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. MAGLA is committed to fostering a fair and transparent gaming environment for all stakeholders involved.
